Anticipated Shows of 2024

2024 is set to be an incredibly promising year of TV, from gripping sci-fi epics to thrilling dramas, there will be something for everyone with romantic series to more grittier dramas. There are diverse and compelling content on the horizon and 2024 is poised to be a memorable year for television enthusiasts.

1) Interview With a Vampire: Season 2

The first series was a hit with fans of the book, movie, and Anne Rice’s. Covering Rice’s novel of the same name, the second series is set to cover the remaining half of the book. Ending on a bloody note for Lestat, Louis and Claudia set out to find more vampires when they come across the vampire Armand and his vampire coven, which starts the love story between Louis and Armand.

The new cast gives an intriguing excitement about the upcoming season, which promises to be bloodier than the first in the season 2 clip released at Comic Con. The back-and-forth timeline is a narrative strong point, with season two reportedly flitting between 2023 and the 1790s, 1940s, and 1970s. New cast members have given a renewed excitement to the second season, particularly Delainey Hayles as Claudia and Ben Daniels as Santiago. There are more rumored cast and characters that we can’t wait to see.

2) House of the Dragon: Season 2

Game of Thrones may have ended on a sour note for fans, but House of the Dragon returned Westeros to screens in triumph. With the Targaryen civil war looming, season 2 brings intense, bloody action and destructive family dynamics as the Blacks and Greens fight for the crown. The rivalry between Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower reaches a boiling point in the highly anticipated second season, with a civil war brewing as the two bloodlines fight for who will keep the Iron Throne, which fans of the books assume will be the official start of the Dance of the Dragons.

There are many reasons to be excited for season 2, but the war between the two sides of the Targaryen family is the main appeal. We have already been given a glimpse, with the teaser showing Vhagar flying and the Blacks and Greens preparing for battle. Last season, every cast member gave amazing performances, and the material for the upcoming season will give us more of that.

3) Bridgerton: Season 3

Breaking from the book order, season 3 of Bridgerton finds Penelope Featherington giving up her long-held affection for Colin Bridgerton after the events of the previous season. It is now Penelope’s turn to find a husband, but she wants one that will provide her with enough freedom to continue her secret double life as Lady Whistledown away from her family.

One of the biggest things last season, aside from the immense chemistry between Anthony and Kate, was Eloise discovering her best friend’s secret identity. Although it is Penelope and Colin’s season, fans hope that Anthony and Kate get plenty of screen time given how much fans loved Anthony and Kate, we aren’t ready for them to lose any screen time and hope they get as much as the Featherington family.  Anthony and Kate exploded off-screen thanks to Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashely’s chemistry, and it would be a shame to waste that. The third season is also a chance to show Penelope’s loyalty to those she claims to care about, and not just to further her own influence as Lady Whistledown. It will be interesting to see if this season will lead to her reveal, something that could refresh the show for the next season.

4) Mr and Mrs Smith: Season 1

Two strangers get jobs working for a spy agency that offers them travel, wealth, and excitement, but they must leave behind their identities in an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Every week, John and Jane Smith navigate missions while discovering each other and developing complex feelings for each other.

Donald Glover always delivers, and the concept is reminiscent of The American's, adding to the intrigue and appeal of the series. It looks to be a series with twists and turns and high action, which Amazon is known for. Given that the movie of the same name had the two agents unaware of each other’s true profession, the series version offers a refreshing take with some amazing talent.

5) The Boys: Season 4

Superheroes are gaining more political power, with Victoria Neuman closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the thumb of Homelander. After the effects of temp-V, Butcher has limited time left and has lost everything he cared about. The world needs saving from superheroes, and The Boys must do it again…if only they could work together.

The Boys is one of Amazon’s best series, and the first season flipped the superhero genre on its head. If the teaser posters are anything to go by, this season will be focusing on an election with Homelander at the center of it, which sets a dangerous precedent. Fans will be eager for yet another Homelander breakdown in what the creators promise to be the craziest season. Online, rumors speculate that this season is the show's penultimate season, fans of the show will hope the writers take us on one crazy ride.
